Sanjay Gupta can
be said to be a style icon when it comes
to dressing up his films. Standing out
among the lot and oozing style in volumes,
we’ve seen films like ‘Kaante’ and
‘Musafir’ in the past. Also striking were
the music of the films. One look at
‘Zinda’ also confirms that Sanjay Gupta
has left no stone unturned to give his
best for it. Produced by White Feather
Films production, the film is presented by
Sanjay Dutt and Nitin Manmohan and has in
the lead Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham, Lara
Dutta and Celina Jaitley. The music is by
Vishal Shekhar, Shibani Kashyap and
Strings. That’s an interesting mix of
Indo-Pak kin in the music. Nikhil Chinapa
and DJ Nawed have been roped in for the
remix versions of the tracks.
You must have last
heard Shibani Kashyap crooning an Indipop
number. Her latest from ‘Zinda’ will just
take you by surprise. ‘Zinda Hoon Main’ is
superb and the three other versions of the
same track are also terrific. ‘Delirious
Dance Club’, ‘Fun Da Mental mix’ and
‘Lounge’ just makes this album rocking.
Composers Shibani Kashyap, Nikhil Chinapa
and DJ Naved should pat their back for the
good job done. Virag Mishra’s lyrics is
also great. Music, singing and the
arrangement are top notch with the rhythm
and pace adding to the vigor. The number
will rock the dance floors and also the
charts.
‘Fun Da Mental
mix’ is the remix of the track done by
Julius Packiam and Jayant Luthra. The
lounge version is also very absorbing. The
pace of the original number remains
constant throughout however the different
style and feel brings in lot of
excitement. We’re just left appreciating
the song again and again.
Pakistani band
‘Strings’ come to the forefront, singing
and composing the track ‘Yeh Hai Meri
Kahani’. The song also appears in two
versions. The lyrics are by Anwar Maqsood.
Another number that’ll make you freak with
the outstanding lyrics and good quality
music. One more version of the number
appears as ‘K Rap’ mix, this time with
Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham accompanying
the pop band. This also calls for kudos!
Follows another
number from the Pakistani pop band, ‘Har
Saans’. The credit of the superb lyrics
again goes to Anwar Maqsood. Krishna sings
this situational track and with the vocal
brilliance the song stands out. The sufi
track has another remix version called the
‘Black Mamba mix’ by Kinky Roland.
Absolute techno stuff with great pace and
rhythm!
Vinod Rathod
turns to the mike with the melancholic
track ‘Maula’. With the underlying tone of
pain this track is serious and sober.
Nikhil Chinapa and DJ Nawed compose the
music with the lyrics by Vishal. Just sit
back with closed eyes and feel the music
going through you. There is also a remix
of the same number ‘State Of Grace Mix’.
Continuing with the sobriety, with some
addition of instruments, the impact of the
track remains the same.
Shibani Kashyap
returns back with the number ‘Kya Main
Zinda Hoon’. Another awesome track with a
good rhythm flowing through it. Composed
and sung by Shibani, this album really
marks her big entry to Bollywood music.
Sanjay Gupta does the lyrics and makes the
theme of the film obvious through the
words. Kailash Kher does another version
of the same track called ‘Chal Rahi Hai
Saanse’. With his vocal prowess the song
catches your attention. More poignant and
touching, the music is by Nikhil Chianapa
and DJ Nawed, who lend an absolutely
different feel to the track.
If you had
earlier read in the credits that the music
of the film is by Vishal Shekhar and yet
they were nowhere to be seen till now,
with ‘Kabhi Muskura De’ you encounter
them. Sanjay Dutt gets to his singing best
once again with this number. There is a
change in his rendition but the reflection
of attitude remains constant like his
former numbers. Penned by Vishal, the song
basically falls in the lounge genre. A
superb haunting number to keep the music
of ‘Zinda’ flowing through you for days at
stretch.
You’ll agree
after hearing the soundtrack, that the
music of ‘Zinda’ is distinct and unique.
With the theme of the film constant in
every song, you get the essence of the
film right through the music. Commercial
yet not the absolute Bollywood stuff, the
music is just right for the premise of the
film. We don’t need to bat an eyelid to
say, that the music will speak for itself!
