Musical Notes
-
Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood, the talent
behind the name Strings, recently returned to
Pakistan after another stint of achieving
impressive heights for themselves
professionally, and subsequently for Pakistan
as a whole. Not long after having a song from
their album Dhaani picked up for the
Soundtrack of the Blockbuster Spiderman 2, the
duo is yet again making waves by having won an
MTV Asia Award. This achievement marks another
first for our Music Industry as Strings are
the first Pakistanis to receive such an honor.
The award was in the "Most Popular Artist"
category. And Strings walked away with the
award despite competition from not just
veteran talents like Jagjit Singh but popular
artists like Shaan and Bombay Vikings too.
Just goes to show that the USP of Pakistani
pop is its edge. All artists cropping up who
are trying to do Hindi film songs should take
note. It isn't Shazia Manzoor who has made it
big in India, it's Strings.
